On the D-100 highway at the Bolu Mountain passage, traffic towards Istanbul was closed due to the overturning of a truck believed to be carrying military ammunition. Numerous teams were dispatched to the scene, and a 1-kilometer-wide security perimeter was established in the area. Traffic flow is being redirected to alternative routes.
A traffic accident on the Bolu Mountain pass, one of the most critical points of the D-100 highway, alarmed the teams. Due to the load of the vehicle involved in the accident, maximum security measures were taken in the region.
TRUCK CAREENS OUT OF CONTROL AND OVERTURNS
According to the information obtained, the accident occurred in the Bakacak area within the borders of Düzce's Kaynaşlı district. The truck with license plate 34 JAH 90, heading towards Istanbul on the D-100 highway and driven by a driver whose identity has not yet been learned, careened out of control and overturned after the driver lost control of the steering wheel.
MILITARY AMMUNITION CLAIM PUTS AUTHORITIES ON ALERT
Upon the assessment that the containers in the trailer section of the truck contained military ammunition, the situation was immediately reported to the relevant authorities. Following the notification, numerous police, gendarmerie, highway, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene. With the overturning of the truck, the Istanbul direction of the D-100 highway was completely closed to traffic.
ISTANBUL DIRECTION CLOSED, TRAFFIC DIVERTED TO VILLAGE ROAD
Security forces, who went on alert in the region against a possible danger, blocked the road with a security barrier starting from approximately 1 kilometer behind the accident site, preventing civilian vehicles and citizens from approaching.
Due to the road closure, alternative routes were activated for drivers heading towards Istanbul. Teams are directing vehicles using that direction from the point of the security barrier onto the Darıyeri Hasanbey village road, allowing drivers to reconnect to the D-100 highway via Kaynaşlı.
