331 YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT WAS DEMANDED

In the indictment where 4 children were listed as victims, a prison sentence of up to 331 years, not less than 63 years for each child, was demanded for the suspect. The decision was made for 60-year-old Şenay in the second trial.

WHAT HAPPENED?

A criminal named Metin Şenay in Istanbul sexually abused children living in the neighborhood in a room in his workplace for years.

The incident came to light on May 24, 2023. When the criminal Metin Şenay took the 11-year-old child named M.Y. to his workplace, the police conducted a raid. It was observed that the walls of the room in the workplace were covered with sponge to prevent the screams from being heard from outside. Şenay, who was detained and later arrested, had hundreds of videos on his phone.

The Ministry of Family and Social Services made a statement regarding the revealed abuse, stating, "We have closely followed the investigation process in which the person mentioned in the news has been tried as a detainee and intervened since the opening of the case. Our 2 children mentioned in the news have been under state protection since November 17, 2023, and professional work regarding the other children who are alleged to have been abused is ongoing. As the Ministry of Family and Social Services, we will continue to closely monitor the judicial process in order for the person being tried as a detainee to receive the harshest punishment. Respectfully announced to the public."
