An investigation has been launched in Şanlıurfa Siverek regarding the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a 21-year-old woman at gunpoint. After being released, the woman took refuge with the gendarmerie, and following her complaint, JASAT teams detained 20 individuals. Two of the suspects were released after giving statements to the gendarmerie, while 14 of those brought before the court were arrested, and judicial control measures were imposed on 4 others.
In the Canpolat neighborhood of Siverek district in Şanlıurfa, on June 16 during the daytime, an unnamed woman was reportedly kidnapped and detained by armed individuals. After being released a while later, she went to the gendarmerie and filed a complaint.
20 DETAINED
Following the complaint, the Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT), under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, conducted a comprehensive investigation. Based on technical surveillance, field work, and gathered evidence, 20 individuals were detained on charges of 'deprivation of liberty', 'sexual assault', 'harboring a criminal', and 'threat'.
14 ARRESTED
Among the suspects who gave statements at the gendarmerie, 2 were released. Of the suspects referred to the courthouse and brought before the court, 14 were arrested, while 4 were placed under judicial control.
In a statement from the Siverek District Governorate, it was announced that all suspects related to the incident have been apprehended, legal proceedings are underway, and the investigation continues.
