62-year-old Meneş Tekin, who went to visit her son in Avcılar, was stabbed in the neck by her ex-husband, whom she divorced 26 years ago and had not seen for 17 years. While her son intervened to save his mother by stopping the attacker, it was claimed that the arrested ex-husband continued his threats during and after the incident. Tekin, discharged from the hospital, said, 'I had forgotten his face; I didn't recognize him. He can't come later and try to cut me.'

Meneş Tekin (62), who went to visit her son at his workplace in Avcılar, was stabbed in the neck by her ex-husband İbrahim Yayla, whom she divorced 26 years ago and had not seen for 17 years. Tekin said, "Years have passed, I forgot his face. I didn't recognize him. A person I don't know cannot come and attack my throat with a knife. He had married someone else and built a home. He cannot come later and try to cut me."

The incident occurred on June 28 in the Yeşilkent neighborhood of Avcılar. According to information obtained, Meneş Tekin went to her son Aytekin Yayla's workplace to visit him. At that time, her ex-husband İbrahim Yayla, whom she divorced 26 years ago due to severe incompatibility, arrived.

Unable to recognize her ex-husband after 17 years, Meneş Tekin asked, "Who were you looking at?" It was alleged that İbrahim Yayla then pulled out a knife from his waist, saying, "I was looking at you; my problem is with you," and attacked Tekin's throat.

Her son Aytekin Yayla saved Meneş Tekin by pushing his father away. Then, Aytekin Yayla took his mother outside, closed the shop's shutter to prevent his father from attacking again, and asked for help from bystanders. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene after being alerted by other shopkeepers. Aytekin Yayla applied pressure to his mother's neck wound to prevent blood loss. After initial medical intervention, Meneş Tekin was taken to the hospital and discharged following treatment. İbrahim Yayla, taken into custody after the incident, was arrested and sent to prison.

"I HELD THE KNIFE SO IT WOULDN'T CUT MY ARTERY"

Describing the horrifying moments, Meneş Tekin said, "He came in, and I said, 'Brother, what are you looking at?' He said, 'I'm looking at you. My problem is with you.' He came closer. He pulled out a bread knife from his waist. When he took out the bread knife, I turned back, saying 'What's happening?' He grabbed my head, pulled it back, and brought the knife toward my neck. Then it cut my neck. I held the knife from behind because I thought he would cut my artery."

"THE ONLY THING ON MY MIND WAS STOPPING MY MOTHER'S BLEEDING"

Aytekin Yayla, who rescued his mother, recounted the events: "Someone came from outside. We made eye contact for a moment. He said, 'Didn't you recognize me?' I said I didn't. He said, 'I'm your father.' He put his hand behind his back, pulled out a knife, and aimed it at my mother's neck. He stabbed it. I ran over, grabbed his hand, and pushed him. I told my mother, 'Get out.' I took the chair she was sitting on and pushed it into his abdomen. Then I threw the chair, went outside, and closed the shutter, pressing it down with my foot. I pressed on my mother's wound to stop the bleeding. After that, I asked the neighbors for help. We called an ambulance and the police. The teams arrived, and they took him out while he was inside holding the knife. They arrested him. The only thing on my mind at that time was stopping my mother's bleeding. Thankfully, it didn't hit an artery. I had to close the shutter because if he came out, he could attack my mother and me again. Even while leaving, he continued cursing and insulting. In fact, as he was getting into the police car, he said, 'I'll plant a bomb and blow you up.'"

"YEARS HAVE PASSED, I FORGOT HIS FACE"

Meneş Tekin, stating she could not recognize her ex-husband when he entered the workplace, said, "After I divorced 26 years ago, raised my children, and endured this hardship, why do you come and attack my throat with a knife? What did you want from me? Years have passed, I forgot his face. I didn't recognize him. A person I don't know cannot come and attack my throat with a knife. Because he married someone else. He has a wife, children. He cannot come later and try to cut me. He has no right to do this."

"THERE WAS NO SIGN OF REMORSE"

Aytekin Yayla, claiming that his father came with the intention of killing his mother, said, "After the incident, while waiting for the police, there was no sign of remorse. He was not under the influence of alcohol or unconscious. It was clear and evident that this was a conscious, intentional, and premeditated act. May Allah not let anyone experience this. There's a saying: 'Let everyone marry the man they can divorce.' We are married too, but may Allah not give anyone such a lack of reason."
