The European Union, stating that Israel's attacks on Lebanon have devastating consequences, called on Israel to cease its operations. Emphasizing the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Lebanon, the EU expressed that attacks on civilians are unacceptable.

The European Union (EU) expressed deep concern over Israel's attacks on Lebanon and called on Israel to cease its operations in Lebanon.

A written statement from the EU External Action Service (EEAS) highlighted that Israel's attacks have led to devastating humanitarian consequences and pose a risk of triggering a prolonged conflict.

"ISRAEL MUST STOP OPERATIONS"

The statement emphasized that "Israel must stop its operations in Lebanon," underlining the deep concern over the attacks.

The statement pointed out that the humanitarian situation in Lebanon is already dire, with more than 1 million people displaced in the country, which corresponds to approximately 25% of the total population.

The statement stressed that civilians are paying the heaviest price in terms of casualties, recalling that nearly 900 people, including more than 100 children, have lost their lives.

"ATTACKS ARE UNACCEPTABLE"

The statement condemned "Hezbollah's decision to drag Lebanon into this war, its refusal to disarm, and its continued indiscriminate attacks on Israel." It emphasized that attacks on civilians, civilian infrastructure, healthcare personnel and facilities, as well as the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), are unacceptable and must be stopped immediately.

The statement welcomed the call from Lebanese officials for direct negotiations with Israel, noting that it is vital for Lebanon and Israel to begin direct talks.

The statement called on all parties to fully implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, stating, "We support the Lebanese government's efforts to disarm Hezbollah and put an end to its military activities."

ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON LEBANON

In a statement from the Israeli army on March 2, it was reported that sirens were activated in the north of the country after detecting missile launches from Lebanon.

Later, the Israeli army announced that it had launched airstrikes across Lebanon and targeted the capital Beirut, deciding to expand its ground invasion in Lebanon with intense attacks from the air and sea.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that since March 2, 968 people have lost their lives in Israeli attacks, and 2,432 people have been injured.

The Disaster Management Authority, affiliated with the Lebanese government, announced that the number of forcibly displaced people in Lebanon due to Israel's invasion and attacks has officially exceeded 1 million.
