11th President Abdullah Gül attended the Delphi Economic Forum in Greece. Drawing attention to the war in the Middle East, Gül stated that the image of the US has been damaged in this process and that Gulf countries have lost confidence in the US's power. Gül also said that Israel is responsible for the suffering in the region.

11th President Abdullah Gül participated in a conversation titled "How Wars in the Middle East Are Reshaping the Region and the Global Order" at the Delphi Economic Forum held in Delphi, Greece.

INTERNATIONAL RULES DEFIED

Speaking at the Delphi Economic Forum, 11th President Gül noted that the world is going through a period of global crisis and uncertainty. Gül stated that some powerful states are eroding the rules-based order and international norms.

Referring to the devastating attacks on Gaza, Iran, and Lebanon, Gül said, "These operations defied international rules. They caused serious human rights violations. According to experts and United Nations (UN) reports, the situation in Gaza constitutes genocide."

"THE U.S. IS OPENING THE DOOR TO ILLEGAL ACTIONS"

Emphasizing that the U.S. attacks on Iran will also have long-term strategic consequences regionally and globally, Gül stated, "Even American officials admit that Tehran does not pose an imminent threat to the U.S. By acting this way, the U.S. is opening the door to illegal actions for other powers as well."

Gül noted that the U.S. image has been damaged in this process and that Gulf countries have also lost confidence in American power.

"ISRAEL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SUFFERING IN THE REGION"

Pointing out that the Strait of Hormuz is a new issue, Gül noted that global energy supply has also been negatively affected.

Stating that Israel is more isolated than ever, Gül said, "Israel is responsible for the suffering in the region. As long as its so-called buffer zone, occupation, and illegal settlement policies toward neighboring countries continue, the negative atmosphere in the region will not change."

Meanwhile, touching on Europe's need for strategic autonomy, Gül stated, "Ankara has the military capability and strategic access that Europe needs today."
