A new decision has been made regarding nurse Alexis Von Yates, who was arrested and sent to prison on charges of sexual abuse against her stepson in the state of Florida, USA. The Florida Department of Health has revoked Yates' nursing license statewide.
CAUGHT IN THE ACT, SENT TO JAIL
According to the New York Post, 35-year-old Yates, born in Ocala, was caught in an inappropriate situation with her 15-year-old stepson by her husband at their family home in July 2024. Following the incident, Yates was arrested and charged as part of the investigation that was initiated.
SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGE RESULTED IN A LIGHTER SENTENCE
According to court records, Yates was initially tried on charges of aggravated sexual assault. However, during the trial process, she accepted a plea deal with the prosecution for a lesser charge. Sentenced to two years in prison in September 2025, Yates is currently in a prison in Florida.
WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WORK IN THE HEALTH SECTOR
According to Ocala News, the Florida Department of Health made a decision to revoke her license after an evaluation with the Nursing Board and the defendant's attorney. Thus, Yates is barred from working in the health sector again.
HUSBAND FILED FOR DIVORCE
Marion County court records revealed that Yates' husband, Frank Yates, officially filed for divorce last month following the events. It was noted that the couple had been living separately for a long time.
According to the investigation file, there was initially no report made to the police after the incident. However, the process was officially initiated after a family member, concerned upon learning of the situation, notified the authorities. Yates was taken into custody in November 2024.
LONG-TERM SANCTIONS WILL BE IMPOSED
According to the court ruling, Yates:
will serve 2 years in prison
will be on supervised release for 2 years
will remain registered as a sex offender for 10 years
will perform 200 hours of community service
will pay fines and court costs
The prosecution emphasized that the plea agreement was made considering the psychological well-being of the victim.
