Due to a technical glitch between the banking sector and the Revenue Administration, citizens received alerts on their mobile phones. It was observed that the transactions were related to housing rental accounts, and as a result, additional tax was requested from people. Officials from the Revenue Administration clarified the issue.
There is a problem with "Housing Rent Payments" in money transfer transactions across Turkey. It was revealed that the issue, which first emerged due to problems in transactions made through the cryptocurrency exchange Binance TR on social media accounts, has spread throughout Turkey.
A mistake has occurred where the EFTs received by cryptocurrency investors after their sales transactions were evaluated as 'rental income'. Since the payments made were coded as Housing Rent Payments, the Revenue Administration started sending them automatic SMS notifications from the Ministry of Finance.

WHAT SHOULD THE RECIPIENTS DO?
Officials from the Revenue Administration, contacted by Haberler.com, stated that the issue is not only related to the cryptocurrency exchange Binance TR; they noted that money transfers between two individuals without cryptocurrency and stock accounts were also defined as housing rental income. Therefore, officials stated that additional taxation messages were sent to these individuals through the GIB, indicating that this issue stemmed from a technical malfunction between the banking sector and the Revenue Administration.
