After the robbery at the Büyükçekmece Courthouse in Istanbul, an inspection at the Evidence and Seized Property Storage of the Adalar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office revealed that 12 firearms were missing. Following the determination that the weapons were not in their place, an investigation was launched, resulting in the arrest of the court clerk identified as the thief. Nine firearms have not yet been found.

The routine inspections conducted at the Property and Evidence Storage of the Istanbul Adalar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office revealed that 12 firearms were missing. A letter was sent to inquire whether the missing firearms were under examination at the Istanbul Regional Police Criminal Laboratory. It was discovered that 3 of the missing firearms had been re-examined.

It was learned that two of these firearms were obtained from a person named "U.E." who was serving as a court clerk in the Property Transactions Office on October 2, 2023, while another was found at the residence of another suspect during an investigation conducted within the scope of terrorism and organized crime.

IT WAS DETERMINED THAT HE REMOVED THE FIREARMS FROM EVIDENCE AND SOLD THEM

Investigations revealed that U.E. had previously served as a court clerk in the Property Transactions Office of the Adalar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and is still continuing to work within the same prosecutor's office.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, court clerk U.E. was detained on November 26 on the grounds that he unlawfully removed the firearms under his supervision and responsibility from evidence during his term of duty. The suspect was arrested by the Duty Magistrate after his procedures at the police station.

MISSING FIREARMS WERE NOT FOUND

During the search conducted at the residence of court clerk U.E., who was determined to have unlawfully removed and sold the firearms from evidence, the 9 missing firearms were not found.

It was learned that the investigation initiated by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is being expanded and continued.
