After a 6 lira 8 kuruş reduction in the per-liter price of gasoline, a 5 lira 47 kuruş reduction in diesel is also expected as of midnight tonight. With the discount reflected at the pump, the per-liter price of diesel will fall below 100 TL again.
After the midterm elections held in the US, the sharp drop in diesel prices in international markets is expected to be reflected in fuel prices in Turkey as well. Following the 6 lira 8 kuruş discount on gasoline, there has been a new development that will please diesel users. According to sector sources, a 5 lira 47 kuruş reduction in the per-liter price of diesel is anticipated, effective from midnight tonight.
DIESEL PRICE TO FALL BELOW 100 TL
Speaking to ANKA News Agency, sector sources stated that with the decline in diesel prices in international markets, a major discount has come onto the agenda in Turkey as well.
The sources said, "A 5 TL 47 kuruş discount effective from midnight tonight is expected. Diesel prices will fall below 100 TL again."
If the expected discount materializes, diesel prices will drop to double-digit levels again after a long hiatus.
PRICES DECLINED AFTER US ELECTIONS
After the Democrats won a majority in both chambers of Congress in the midterm elections held in the US, international diesel prices fell.
Diesel, which was at $1,390 per ton on November 2, rose at one point to $1,450 on November 3. Prices began to fall after the election results and declined to $1,293 by Thursday, November 5.
This decline in international markets is expected to be reflected as a discount in pump prices in Turkey.
A PRICE INCREASE MAY FOLLOW THE DISCOUNT
Sector sources also warned that the decline in diesel prices may not be permanent. It was noted that tension between the US and Iran could lead to a renewed price increase in the markets.
The sources said, "There is some increase in diesel. Will the increase continue? If it does, a price hike may come onto the agenda in the days following the discount."
6 LIRA 8 KURUŞ DISCOUNT MADE ON GASOLINE
Meanwhile, there was also a significant drop in gasoline prices. A 6 lira 8 kuruş discount was made to the per-liter price of gasoline, effective from today. The discount in question was reflected in pump sales prices.
If the expected 5 lira 47 kuruş discount on diesel also materializes, fuel prices will have experienced two major declines in a row.
