While reactions to the increase in retirement pensions continue, AK Party member Şamil Tayyar revealed the details of the "Income Complementary Family Support System" that Treasury and Finance Minister Şimşek is working on. The implementation of the program, which is expected to be launched in the second half of the year, plans to provide cash support every month to those whose income falls below a certain threshold. For example, if a retiree with an income of 20,000 lira has a living index set at 30,000 lira, it is anticipated that they will receive 10,000 lira in support.
With the regulation passed by the Parliament, the minimum pension has been raised to 20,000 TL, but this increase has not satisfied retirees and low-income individuals in the face of rising living costs. Former AK Party Deputy Şamil Tayyar shared details of a new preparation that excites retirees.
A NEW SOCIAL ASSISTANCE MECHANISM IS COMING
According to Tayyar, the economic team under the leadership of Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek is working on a new social assistance mechanism that will ease the burden on citizens' pockets without compromising budget discipline. Tayyar stated that the economic management aims for a permanent increase in welfare for the paid and salaried sectors by targeting "the beginning of 2027," announcing the "Income Complementary Family Support System" that will be implemented during the time leading up to that date.
LOOKING AT TOTAL INCOME
The working principle of the new system is based on accurately determining the income and wealth status of households. Şamil Tayyar summarized the process with the following points:
- Living Index to be Determined: The state will determine the amount required for a family to maintain minimum living standards (Living Index).
- Income Test: The total income and wealth map of the household will be drawn up.
- Difference to be Paid: If the household income is below the determined living index, the difference will be deposited into the citizen's account as "Social Salary" by the state.
"A 10,000 LIRA DIFFERENCE WILL BE PAID"
Explaining how the system will work with a concrete example, Tayyar stated that retirees will also fall under this coverage: "For example; if the household income is 20,000 lira and the determined living index is 30,000 lira, the 10,000 lira difference will be paid to the citizen. Retirees who meet the conditions will also benefit from this application."
A DATE HAS BEEN SET FOR THE PILOT APPLICATION
Responding to millions of people's question, "When will it start?", Tayyar announced that the application will be tested very soon. The system is planned to be implemented with a pilot regional application in 2-3 provinces to be determined in June or July. Households with increasing income over time will be automatically removed from the system.
YEAR-END REFORM FOR PUBLIC EMPLOYEES
Tayyar also stated that a comprehensive reform package regulating the salaries and working conditions of all public employees is in the preparation stage and will come to the Parliament's agenda towards the end of the year.
