Turkish Airlines (THY) is increasing capacity on flights to St. Petersburg, Russia, which has seen significant interest from Turkish passengers. Starting from June 9, THY will operate one of its flights with a large-bodied Airbus A330, providing passengers with a more comfortable flying experience.

St. Petersburg, one of the cultural and artistic capitals of Russia, has recently become a favorite destination for Turkish travelers. The ease of visa-free entry, short flight duration, and affordable accommodation options have increased the city's popularity, while Turkish Airlines (THY) has decided to expand its flight capacity in response to high demand.

Starting from June 9, 2025, THY will operate one of its three daily flights from Istanbul Airport with a large-capacity Airbus A330 aircraft, which has a capacity of 251 passengers. With this change, Business Class passengers will enjoy full bed comfort, while economy passengers will benefit from more legroom.

THY IS SHIFTING GEARS FOR ST. PETERSBURG

Travel to St. Petersburg is not limited to THY. While the Russian airline Aeroflot operates a reciprocal flight daily from Istanbul Airport, Pegasus offers two flights a day and AJet provides one direct flight to the city from Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Thus, a total of seven direct flights are operated daily from Turkey to St. Petersburg.

Known as the "Venice of the North," St. Petersburg stands out as one of the most impressive cities not only in Russia but also in Europe, with its historic palaces, art museums, opera houses, and stunning architecture. This city, which has become easily accessible for Turkish citizens with an electronic visa in just 4 days, attracts travelers with a wide range of options from cultural tours to romantic getaways. With the 60-day valid e-visa, visitors can stay in the city for up to 16 days.
