The global software issue, which disrupted operations in various sectors including airlines worldwide, also had a negative impact on the shares of CrowdStrike and Microsoft.
CROWDSTRIKE SHARES FELL BY 9%
After the opening of the markets in the US, the shares of CrowdStrike, based in Texas, lost more than 14% at 16:31 Turkish time. It was observed that the decline in the company's shares, which was recorded at the opening, continued although at a slower pace. CrowdStrike's shares traded at 309.89 dollars, with a decline of more than 9% as of 17:00 Turkish time.
DECREASE IN MICROSOFT SHARES
Microsoft's shares also lost more than 1% immediately after the opening. The decline in the company's shares fell below 1% as of 17:00 Turkish time.
CYBER CHAOS HIT AIRLINE COMPANIES AND BANKS
It was reported that technical disruptions occurred in companies, airports, banks, some media organizations, and the London Stock Exchange due to issues in CrowdStrike systems, which provide cybersecurity software to Microsoft, affecting US-based airline companies worldwide.
George Kurtz, the CEO of CrowdStrike, stated on his X account that they were actively working with customers affected by a problem found in a single content update for Windows hosts, and said, "This is not a security incident or a cyber attack. The issue has been identified and isolated, and a fix has been identified."
In the statement made by Microsoft 365, it was stated that the underlying cause of the issue affecting many businesses worldwide has been fixed, and several Microsoft 365 applications and services have been fully restored, while it was noted that some applications and services still have some remaining effects.
