Following the attack on a Turkish ship in Odessa, Ukraine, by an Iskander missile, President Erdoğan issued a warning. Erdoğan stated, "The Black Sea should not be seen as a battleground. Such a situation only harms Russia and Ukraine; it brings no benefit. Everyone needs navigation safety in the Black Sea. This must be ensured."
The attacks on commercial ships continue within the scope of the Russia-Ukraine war. Recently, an attack was carried out on a foreign-flagged ship belonging to a Turkish company in Ukraine's Chernomorsk Port.
While the fire on the ship was extinguished, it was reported that there were no casualties or injuries. It was learned that the ship, which was hit by a ballistic missile, was engaged in transportation activities between Ukraine and Romania. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the war between Russia and Ukraine must be 'immediately ended.'
EMPASIS ON NAVIGATIONAL SAFETY IN THE BLACK SEA
President Erdoğan addressed the recent frequent attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea during a statement made on the plane returning from Turkmenistan. Erdoğan said, "As you know, U.S. President Donald Trump is involved in this issue. In addition to Trump's involvement, we are also encouraging America. Our Foreign Minister Mr. Hakan is in constant contact with the relevant parties in America. We also occasionally engage in telephone diplomacy with leaders. After this meeting we had with Putin, we hope to have the opportunity to evaluate the peace plan with U.S. President Trump as well. Peace is not far away; we see it. All we need to do is to turn our direction towards where peace is. The Black Sea should not be seen as an area of confrontation. Such a situation only harms Russia and Ukraine and provides no benefit. Everyone needs navigational safety in the Black Sea. This must be ensured."
