Following the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer as part of a terrorism investigation, the employment contracts of 7 individuals who were employed by the municipality and found to have a familial relationship with him were terminated.
According to information obtained from provincial sources, it was determined that 7 individuals employed in the municipality after the March 31 Local Government General Elections were related to Ahmet Özer, who was arrested as part of an investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau aimed at identifying members and activities of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK.
HIRED RELATIVES
It was found that Özer's brother A.Ö., who was hired on April 19 after the elections, started working as a close protection officer, his cousin M.M.Y. served as a workplace license consultant, and his nephews M.S.Ö. and M.E.K. worked as personal staff.
It was understood that Özer's brother-in-law M.G., who was hired on April 20 in the municipality, started working as the coordinator of zoning and licensing affairs, his cousin B.F.Y. also served as personal staff, and a relative S.Ç. was a civil servant from an exceptional position.
7 PEOPLE WERE TERMINATED
While the employment contracts of these 7 individuals working in the municipality were terminated, it was learned that the dismissals were limited to those hired solely due to their familial ties.
