Author Ahmet Ümit, who attended the Samsun Book Fair organized by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality at the Metropolitan Municipality Fair and Congress Center, also answered journalists' questions.

I WANT NEITHER MONEY NOR ROYALTIES

When asked whether he would attend if the Iranian producers who adapted his novel 'Fog and Night' into a TV series without permission invited him to the gala, Ümit said:

'If they invited me, that is, if they called for permission, I would go, but they didn't invite me. I don't want money or anything. I don't want royalties either. If they just called and said, We're going to adapt your novel into a TV series. The situation in your country is bad; would you support us? I would say, It's all right, brother.'

I WRITE AS IF I'M TALKING WITH MY FRIENDS

Emphasizing that the real world is always ahead of fiction, Ümit said, 'I can't imagine a novel more colorful than life. After all, no matter how fantastic all the novels we write are, they will never be as vivid and colorful as life. Fiction itself cannot be more valuable than life.'

Stating that he tries to write sincerely, Ümit said, 'I write as if I'm talking with my friends. While writing, I also try to do justice to the book I'm writing. For example, I went to Rome for my novel Five Days in Rome. Because I need to see those streets. I went through a very intense research process.'

Explaining that one of the reasons young people love him is the structure of his novels, Ümit said, 'They don't get bored while reading exciting, curiosity-filled novels with strong intrigue. That's why readers don't leave us alone; they read the books.'

Author Ahmet Ümit then signed his books for his readers.
