AK Party Kayseri Provincial Chairman Hüseyin Okandan denied the claim that the lawyer arrested for drugs was an AK Party council member, stating that the suspect is a CHP municipal council member. CHP has initiated a disciplinary process.
AK Party Provincial Chairman Hüseyin Okandan held a press conference regarding the claim that the lawyer arrested for drugs is an AK Party municipal council member.
Lawyer Alaattin Can Akkılınç, who was caught with 5 kilograms of cannabis and a cannabis grinder hidden in his car trunk by teams from the Kayseri Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Narcotics Branch, was taken into custody yesterday. After being processed at the gendarmerie, suspect Akkılınç was referred to the courthouse and arrested by the judge.
THOSE WHO PLAY GAMES LEFT DISAPPOINTED
Some media outlets published news suggesting the arrested lawyer was an "AK Party Talas Municipality council member." In a press conference, AK Party Kayseri Provincial Chairman Hüseyin Okandan announced that this person is a CHP Talas Municipal council member.
Speaking at the Talas Municipality Council Hall, Okandan said they followed news about the incident and that some media outlets reported as if the suspect caught with drugs was an AK Party Talas Municipality council member.
"WE DO NOT ACCEPT THE LOGIC OF 'LET'S THROW MUD, LET'S HARM THE AK PARTY'"
Stating that the suspect is a CHP municipal council member, Okandan said, "While we thought not to pursue this matter and not to speak, we strongly condemn the news that some media outlets published simply as 'Talas Municipality Council Member.' I thank our colleagues who openly stated he is a CHP municipal council member. If we have a fault, expose it. But if we don't have a fault, we never accept the approach based on the logic of throwing mud to harm the AK Party, Talas Municipality, or this organization."
"IT WAS DELIBERATE"
Okandan, expressing they are always ready to face their mistakes, said, "However, in baseless incidents, we never accept and will never accept any attribution to ourselves, our party, or any member of our party. It was a deliberate incident; today it is not very difficult to investigate this."
Talas Mayor Mustafa Yalçın and AK Party Talas District Chairman Mustafa Kiraz also attended the press conference.

In a statement on the CHP Kayseri Provincial Directorate's social media account, considering the seriousness of the ongoing judicial process, it was reported that a disciplinary process for definitive expulsion from the party was initiated against Alaattin Can Akkılınç in line with the party charter and disciplinary provisions, and his party membership and affiliation with the party were terminated.
