Former AK Party Deputy Şamil Tayyar stated about Mustafa Çiftçi, the Governor of Erzurum who took over the Ministry of Interior from Ali Yerlikaya, "He is also a hafiz. As far as I know, we have a hafiz as our minister for the first time."

A surprise was reflected in the Presidential Cabinet at midnight. A new name was appointed in place of Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

According to the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Erdoğan, Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi was appointed as the Interior Minister.

Following Çiftçi's appointment as Interior Minister, former AK Party Member of Parliament Şamil Tayyar shared a post. Tayyar stated, "The new appointments in the Cabinet are a change of guard. I wish success to Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and Justice Minister Akın Gürlek in their new roles."

WHO IS MUSTAFA ÇİFTÇİ?

He was born in 1970 in the Çumra District of Konya. He completed his primary and secondary education in Çumra and his high school education in Konya.

He graduated from the Public Administration Department of the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University in 1995. In 1996, he won the exam for District Governorship Candidates opened by the Ministry of Interior and started his duty as the 85th Term Konya District Governorship Candidate.

In 1998, he went to England for 8 months. He graduated from the National Security Academy in 1999. He served as a District Governor in Aksaray-Gülağaç, Erzurum-Tekman, Nevşehir-Derinkuyu, Bitlis-Adilcevaz, and Kırşehir-Kaman Districts, and held the position of Department Head in the General Directorate of Personnel of the Ministry of Interior. He also served in the Special Secretariat of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and as Chief Advisor to the President.

In 2007, he completed his Master's degree in Public Administration at Selçuk University Institute of Social Sciences, and in 2011, he graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Ankara University. In 2012, Mustafa ÇİFTÇİ completed another master's degree in the Department of Public Administration at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. He graduated from the Department of Justice at A.Ü. and the Faculty of Economics. He is currently continuing his education at the Faculty of Law at Ankara University and the Department of History at Anadolu University Open Education Faculty. Embracing the philosophy that "A person ages the day they stop learning; a person who abandons learning is old whether they are twenty or eighty," Governor Çiftçi speaks English and Arabic.

With the Presidential appointment decision numbered 2018/202, our esteemed governor was appointed as the Governor of Çorum, where he served for 4 years and 9 months. With the Presidential appointment decision dated August 9, 2023, numbered 2023/376, he was appointed to our province and started his duty as the Governor of Erzurum on August 18, 2023. Çiftçi is married and a father of three children. He has been appointed as the Interior Minister in place of Yerlikaya.
