AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated after the party's Central Executive Board meeting, "We are the first to oppose any terrorist organization that carries out actions against civilians in Syria."

AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made statements regarding the developments in Syria following the party's MYK meeting.

"I WISH THESE SENTENCES HAD NOT BEEN USED"

Çelik, who said, "It is not a political statement for some politicians, especially the co-chairs of the DEM Party, to present our stance against terrorism as if we support HTS," stated, "This is a mandate of agency. This argument is the organization's argument. There is no political statement in front of us. I wish these sentences had not been constructed. Saying 'SDG represents the Kurds' is nothing but an admission from our perspective, when there are thousands of sentences a politician could construct. The organization he openly supports is as if it is a human rights organization or a canary lovers' association," he expressed.

"WE ARE THE FIRST TO OPPOSE TERRORIST ACTIONS IN SYRIA"

Çelik also stated: "The characterizations directed at us by those who openly say they support the terrorist organization are merely an attempt to cover up their own stance. These are memorized sentences spoken on behalf of others, they have no value. Claiming that they turn a blind eye to the killing of Kurdish civilians is an immoral approach. The extent to which both the SDG and PKK have killed Kurdish civilians has occurred in front of everyone's eyes.

When any terrorist organization carries out actions against civilians in Syria, we are the first to oppose it. These are ideological games. After so much has happened, we expect more reasonable sentences, sentences that could mean political evaluation. These are just ideological games when such significant events occur. Taking a supportive stance towards a terrorist organization and then saying 'I care about the well-being of the Kurds' are two completely contradictory sentences."
