Intense activity is being observed at the military airbase in the town of Shaddadi, located in Hasakah province, where the US-led coalition against ISIS is operating.
ISIS MILITANTS BEING TRANSFERRED TO IRAQ
The Syrian army has liberated a large area in the northeast of the country from the terrorist organization YPG through its operations. Among the areas liberated by the Syrian army is the airbase in the town of Shaddadi, which belongs to the US-led coalition against ISIS.
At the Shaddadi Airbase, a US cargo plane has been seen landing and loading cargo. Additionally, military helicopters continue to fly in the area. A zeppelin is also present here to observe the surroundings of the military base.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) had reported that the transfer of ISIS militants held in Syria to Iraq had begun.
In a statement made by CENTCOM on January 21, it was stated, "The transfer mission began with the successful relocation of 150 ISIS fighters held at a detention facility in Hasakah, Syria, to a secure location in Iraq." The statement also noted that approximately 7,000 ISIS members would be transferred from Syria to facilities under Iraqi control.
CEASEFIRE EXTENDED BY 15 DAYS
The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that the ceasefire with the terrorist organization YPG has been extended for 15 days starting from January 24 at 23:00.
The ministry stated that the ceasefire was extended due to the process of transporting ISIS detainees from prisons controlled by the YPG to Iraq.
