CHP's Akçakoca Mayor Fikret Albayrak, who was detained yesterday on charges of "embezzlement," was arrested by the judicial authorities he was referred to and sent to prison.
Under the coordination of the Düzce Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Fikret Albayrak, who was detained in Afyonkarahisar on charges of "extortion," was brought to Düzce. After giving his statement at the Provincial Police Department, he was referred to the judicial authorities in the morning hours. Mayor Albayrak was arrested by the judicial authorities to which he was referred with a request for detention.
"OUR MAYOR HAS UNFORTUNATELY BEEN ARRESTED"
Republican People's Party Düzce Central District Chairman Metin Dursun stated, "Our mayor, who was elected by the will of the people of Akçakoca, aspired to manage the municipality democratically, and without any self-interest, without violating anyone's rights, without consuming the rights of orphans whose hair has not yet grown, was first taken into custody today by a court decision, through slanders and conspiracies. Today, unfortunately, he was arrested. Our struggle is not over. Our struggle will continue. We stand firmly behind our mayor until the end. We have never taken a step back, and we will never take a step back."
