MHP Kocaeli Provincial Vice President and businessman Geylani Yenigün was shot and killed with a pistol by his business partner U.Ö. after a dispute over receivables and debts at his home in İzmit. Following the incident, U.Ö. went down to the complex garden and committed suicide with the same gun. After the incident that shook the political and business world, it was revealed that Yenigün, a father of two, had served as a witness at the wedding of his partner, who separated him from life only 5 months ago.
The Izmit district of Kocaeli witnessed a murder and suicide case that deeply shook both the business world and the political community. Geylani Yenigün (44), a well-known businessman and MHP Provincial Deputy Chairman, was shot dead by his construction sector partner U.Ö. (41). The suspect U.Ö. then ended his own life with the same gun immediately after the incident.
A striking detail emerged from this bloody outcome that resulted in the deaths of the two partners. It was learned that Yenigün, who lost his life, had served as the best man at the wedding of his partner, who killed him, just 5 months ago.
DEBT AND RECEIVABLE DISPUTE ENDED BLOODILY
The incident occurred around 12:00 at a site on Saglik Street in the Yahyakaptan neighborhood. According to claims, U.Ö., who had investments in real estate, construction, and entertainment sectors, went to the home of his partner Geylani Yenigün, with whom he had been in conflict over debt and receivable issues related to transfer processes.
The argument that started at the home between the two quickly escalated. As tension rose, U.Ö. pulled out his gun and shot Yenigün. After severely wounding his partner, U.Ö. went down to the site's garden and shot himself with the same gun.
COULD NOT BE SAVED DESPITE ALL INTERVENTIONS
Upon hearing the gunshots, site residents notified authorities, and police and medical teams were quickly dispatched to the area. Geylani Yenigün, a father of two, was taken to the hospital in critical condition but could not be saved despite all efforts by doctors. U.Ö. died at the scene.
Upon receiving the tragic news, Yenigün's relatives and loved ones rushed to the scene, and police teams tried to calm the family, who were experiencing nervous breakdowns. After crime scene investigation teams and the public prosecutor completed their work, the bodies were taken to the morgue for autopsy.
HE HAD BEEN THE BEST MAN 5 MONTHS AGO
The details that emerged after the tragedy were heart-wrenching. It was learned that Geylani Yenigün, who operated in the chemistry, entertainment, and construction sectors and was also a partner in a local newspaper, had a close friendship with his killer in addition to their business partnership. It was determined that Yenigün served as a witness at the wedding of his partner U.Ö., who got married in December 2025.
POLITICAL AND BUSINESS WORLDS IN MOURNING
Deceased Geylani Yenigün was known not only for his successes in the business world but also for his active political identity. Yenigün had entered the MHP Kocaeli Provincial Executive Board last March and was appointed as the Provincial Deputy Chairman responsible for Media and Communications.
It was reported that U.Ö., who committed suicide, started his business career in 2015 in the real estate and automotive sectors, and after investments in construction and excavation, entered the food and beverage sector in 2023.
