Former İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener, who had previously referred to Ekrem İmamoğlu as "my son," emerged during an iftar dinner organization after maintaining her silence during the process in which İmamoğlu was arrested and suspended from his position as part of a 'corruption' investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained on March 19 as part of investigations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), was released in the 'terror' investigation yesterday but was arrested in the 'corruption' investigation. AKŞENER'S STRIKING SILENCE
İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu visited both Saraçhane and the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan to openly support İmamoğlu, while the former İYİ Party Chairman Meral Akşener's silence regarding İmamoğlu, whom she referred to as "my son," drew attention.
EMERGED AT THE IFTAR DINNER
On the day İmamoğlu was arrested and suspended from his duties, Akşener was seen at an iftar dinner event. A photo related to the event, which included Akşener, was shared on social media by İYİ Party Istanbul Deputy Burak Akburak. Akburak noted in his post, "I had the great pleasure of being with our founding leader Ms. Meral Akşener and my dear friend Ahmet Arslan at the iftar invitation. I am very pleased to be with patriotic people who love their country and create added value. Long may they live."
