According to TÜİK's June 2026 population report, the decline in Erzincan's population continues. The province's population fell to 240 thousand by the end of 2025, while the annual population growth rate maintained its negative trend. Erzincan's net migration in 2025 was minus 1.6 thousand people, and the average household size remained below the Turkish average.
According to the June 2026 population report published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) Erzurum Regional Directorate, the decreasing trend in the population of Erzincan continues.
According to the report, the province's population was recorded as 243 thousand in 2023, 241 thousand in 2024, and 240 thousand at the end of 2025.
POPULATION GROWTH RATE REMAINED NEGATIVE
According to TÜİK data, the annual population growth rate of Erzincan also turned negative.
The population growth rate, calculated as minus 8.9 per thousand in the 2023-2024 period, became minus 6.7 per thousand in the 2024-2025 period.
CONTINUES TO LOSE POPULATION THROUGH MIGRATION
According to the migration statistics in the report, Erzincan's net migration in 2025 was minus 1.6 thousand people. The data revealed that the province gives more migrants than it receives.
HOUSEHOLD SIZE BELOW TURKEY AVERAGE
According to TÜİK's average household size data, in 2025, an average of 2.7 people lived in a household in Erzincan. This rate remained below the Turkey average of 3.1 people.
