During routine inspections conducted by teams in Gaziosmanpasa, Istanbul, approximately 10 tons of spoiled and expired products were detected in two businesses. While preventing these products, which threaten public health, from being released to the market, an investigation was initiated against the relevant businesses.
Inspections of workplaces continue unabated in Gaziosmanpasa to ensure citizens have access to healthy and reliable food. During routine checks carried out by the Gaziosmanpasa Municipality Police Department Workplace Hygiene Inspection Team and the District Agriculture Directorate teams, tons of unsuitable products were found in two workplaces.
TONS OF UNHEALTHY PRODUCTS SEIZED
During the inspections, 6,000 liters of molasses were processed for destruction, while approximately 1 ton of kashar cheese and margarine were destroyed. In addition, approximately 7 tons of spoiled products collected from shelves and 3 tons of spices were placed under custody for destruction.
DOORS OF THE WORKPLACE WERE NOT OPENED, INSPECTION CONDUCTED WITH DRONE
When the doors of the workplaces were not opened during the inspection, the operation was expanded. In the check carried out with drone support, it was determined that people were inside the workplaces. Thereupon, necessary procedures were initiated, and the products in the workplaces were checked one by one. The examinations revealed 10 tons of food products posing a risk.
MINISTRY LAUNCHED INVESTIGATION
Following the inspections, reports were drawn up regarding the workplaces and the products found, while an examination and investigation were initiated by the relevant units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. While the process regarding the penal actions to be applied to the workplaces continues, procedures will be carried out in accordance with the legislation on the products removed from sale, based on the results of the examination. Gaziosmanpasa Municipality Police Department teams will continue their inspections across the district to ensure food safety.
