In the Yeşilyurt district of Malatya, a middle school student, who has allegedly been subjected to bullying for a long time, was driven to suicide at the age of 13. According to the family's claims, threats written in textbooks, pressures experienced at school, and the indifference of teachers left the young child feeling so desperate that he consumed all the medications he had at home. It has been reported that the child, who is currently receiving treatment in intensive care, is at risk of liver failure.

It has been claimed that a 13-year-old child, an 8th-grade student at Kemal Özalper Middle School in the Yeşilyurt district of Malatya, attempted suicide due to long-term alleged peer bullying. It was reported that the child, who is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Turgut Özal Medical Center, is at risk of liver failure.

"THEY WROTE THREATS IN HIS BOOK"

The family claimed that the child had been subjected to insults, threats, and bullying by his friends for a long time, and that even threatening messages had been written in his textbooks. Mother Hatice A. stated that on the day of the incident, her son called her crying and recounted the events as follows:

"I sent him to school at 06:40. He called at 07:57, crying. He said, 'Mom, come urgently.' I found him in the guidance office in a devastated state. They had written insults and threats in his book for days. He told two of his teachers, 'They are threatening me.' His teachers said, 'You will find them.' How can my child find these kids during recess?"

FAMILY REACTS TO SCHOOL MANAGEMENT: THEY DID NOT INTERVENE

Mother Hatice A. argued that the school management remained indifferent to their complaints, stating that when she wanted to meet with the principal, she was turned away with the excuse that "an inspector is present." Expressing that her child is fighting for his life, the mother said, "I begged, I cried, but no one cared. They said, 'There are thousands of children here.' When my son came home, he said, 'I don't want to go to school, they are threatening me.' Out of fear, he took all the medications he used at home at once. Now his liver is on the verge of failure. It happened to my child; it shouldn't happen to other children." she recounted the events.

FAMILY FILED A COMPLAINT

The child's uncle, Murat A., stated that they rushed to the hospital in the evening and reported the incident to the police station, adding:

"The child has taken very serious medications. Doctors say he may need a liver transplant. We are complaining about everyone who has failed to act and who has taken responsibility. We will not let this matter go."

The family claims that the peer bullying has been ongoing for a long time and that the school management did not take the necessary precautions. While a judicial and administrative investigation has been requested regarding the incident, the child's treatment in the intensive care unit continues.
