A famous shopping mall (AVM) in the Yenimahalle district of Ankara has banned entry for individuals under 18 years old without a guardian on weekends for security reasons.
STATEMENT FROM THE SHOPPING MALL
In a written statement from the AVM, it was noted that a regulation regarding entry to the mall on weekends has been implemented, stating, "First of all, we would like to emphasize that our shopping mall sees it as a primary priority for all our visitors to spend time in a safe, peaceful, and clean environment. In this context, recent verbal and physical disputes among certain groups of young people under 18, especially on weekends, have led to serious complaints from both our visitors and store employees, sometimes escalating into fights.
"ENTRIES TO THE MALL HAVE BEEN RESTRICTED"
The measures taken to prevent this situation have been implemented as a result of evaluations made with the relevant law enforcement agencies. Within the scope of the application, the entry of those who engage in verbal and physical fights may be restricted," it was stated.
"THE AIM OF THE DECISION IS NOT TO EXCLUDE OUR YOUNG PEOPLE"
The statement also included, "The purpose of this decision is not to exclude our young people or to discriminate in any way. On the contrary, it is to ensure the safety of our young people and to provide a peaceful shopping environment for all our visitors. Indeed, similar practices may also be implemented periodically in different parts of our country for security reasons.
It has been observed that some news reports have addressed the issue in a partial and one-sided manner, and it is of great importance to inform the public correctly. Our shopping mall continues its mission to be an open, inclusive, and safe social living space for all its visitors, as always," the statement concluded.
