Pakistan and China issued a "5-point joint initiative" for the restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East following the war that began with attacks by the US and Israel on Iran. Among the mentioned points are "Immediate cessation of hostilities" and "Protection of civilians."
The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared information about the meeting of Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi today in the capital Beijing through the account of company X on the social media platform.
PAKISTAN AND CHINA TAKE ACTION TO END THE WAR
According to the post, the parties discussed developments in the Middle East during the meeting and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, efforts to prevent the spread of war, and allowing humanitarian aid to affected areas.
THEY PUBLISHED A JOINT STATEMENT WITH 5 POINTS
Emphasizing that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way to resolve conflicts, the parties agreed on a "5-point joint initiative" to restore peace and stability in the region.
The 5 points are as follows:
- Immediate cessation of hostilities
- Initiation of peace talks as soon as possible
- Protection of civilians
- Ensuring the safety of navigation routes
- Adherence to the United Nations (UN) Charter
EMPHASIS ON RESPECTING IRAN'S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY
The parties emphasized the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran and other Gulf countries and to end attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure.
Calling for the passage of civilian and commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, the parties also requested support for an agreement aimed at lasting peace within the principles established by the UN Charter and international law.
