In the Şavşat district of Artvin, one person lost their life and four others were injured when an ambulance carrying a patient fell into a ravine. The accident occurred on a slippery road due to snowfall and icing.
As a result of an ambulance carrying a patient rolling into a ravine in the Şavşat district of Artvin, 1 person lost their life and 4 others were injured.
AMBULANCE ROLLED INTO A 30-METER RAVINE
The accident occurred today around 05:06 on the road to Çoraklı village in the Şavşat district. According to the information obtained, the 112 Emergency Health teams picked up a patient from Ilıca village and were on their way back. Due to snowfall and icing, the road became slippery, and as a result, the ambulance driver lost control of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to roll into a ravine approximately 30 meters deep. Upon notification, AFAD, gendarmerie, 112 Emergency Health teams, ŞAKUT (Şavşat Search and Rescue Association), and Şavşat Municipality fire teams were dispatched to the scene. As a result of the efforts carried out under challenging terrain conditions, the injured individuals in the ambulance were rescued by the teams from their location.
THE PATIENT IN THE AMBULANCE DIED AT THE SCENE
The patient in the ambulance, Serafettin Sancar, lost his life at the scene. 3 injured healthcare personnel and 1 patient relative were taken to the hospital by ambulances after the initial intervention at the scene.
