In an operation targeting a bus carrying unlicensed weapons to be delivered to criminal organizations in Istanbul's Tuzla district, 120 guns were seized. While it was not disclosed which gang the shipment was intended for, four suspects linked to the weapons were arrested.
Under the coordination of the Istanbul Anatolian Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Istanbul Provincial Police Department Organized Crime Branch Directorate are continuing their operations uninterruptedly against criminal organizations operating in the city and the arms traffickers supplying them with weapons. Within the scope of an ongoing investigation, police teams launched an operation targeting a passenger bus determined to be transporting unlicensed firearms intended for delivery to criminal organizations.
120 UNLICENSED PISTOLS AND MAGAZINES SEIZED
On July 8, the identified bus was stopped by police teams at a checkpoint on the TEM Highway in the Tuzla district. During the search and inspection of the vehicle, 120 unlicensed pistols and 120 magazines belonging to these weapons were seized from a hidden compartment specially built behind the spare fuel tank.
BUS CONFISCATED
As part of the operation, 4 suspects were apprehended and taken into custody, while the bus used in the weapon shipment was also confiscated. The suspects, taken to the Istanbul Organized Crime Branch Directorate, were arrested by the judicial authorities to which they were referred after their procedures at the police station and sent to prison.
