The lifeless body found in the Tigris River in the Sur district of Diyarbakır was identified as belonging to 42-year-old beloved tradesman Turgay Altun, known in the city as "Idris Usta." In one of the videos he shared, Altun expressed being crushed under high taxes, relentless fines, and heavy financial burdens, rebelling with the words, "I am the one suffering, they are the ones winning."
The male corpse found in the Tigris River in the Sur district of Diyarbakır has been identified as 42-year-old Turgay Altun, a local tradesman known as 'Idris Usta'.
The incident occurred during the noon hours in the Bağıvar area of the Sur district. Noticing an immobile person on the surface of the Tigris River, bystanders immediately reported the situation to authorities. Upon the notification, police, health teams, and Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Underwater Search and Rescue teams were dispatched to the area.
CAUSE OF DEATH TO BE DETERMINED BY AUTOPSY
Through the intensive efforts of the teams, the lifeless body retrieved from the water was confirmed to belong to a male. Following initial examinations, the body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy to determine identity and the exact cause of death. Investigations revealed that the person who died in the river was Turgay Altun (42), a beloved tradesman in Diyarbakır who ran a toast shop and was popularly known as 'Idris Usta'. The news of Altun's death was met with great sorrow in the city and among the tradesman community.
HE HAD COMPLAINED IN A VIDEO
In his last video shared on his social media account, Turgay Altun had said: 'The finance department on one side, the municipality on one side, the tradesmen's guarantee fund on one side, the Provincial Agriculture Directorate on one side... The fines traffic police write to couriers on one side... How many partners does this shop have? Give, give, how far can it go... They earn more than me. I suffer the hardship, they reap the profit.'
