The banner of Atatürk, hung in the district of Gelibolu, which holds great importance in the Gallipoli Campaign, drew reactions on the occasion of November 10, Atatürk's commemoration. REACTIONS GREW LIKE AN AVALANCHEA poster depicting Atatürk behind iron bars was hung in the district. Following the reactions, the municipality removed that banner and hung a picture of Atatürk with the star and crescent. GELİBOLU MUNICIPALITY HAS A STATEMENTIn response to the increasing reactions, Gelibolu Municipality stated that the posters were defective due to a "technical error" and were removed as soon as they were noticed. The statement from the municipality included the following remarks: "We are forever committed to the principles and reforms of our great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, from whom we have never deviated for a moment, and we take pride in living in the Republic of Turkey, his greatest legacy. On November 10, the day he passed away, in order to keep his precious memory alive, the November 10 posters prepared and hung by our municipality were found to be defective due to a technical error, and our teams ensured that they were removed from where they were hung as soon as this was noticed. We condemn with regret those individuals and groups who attempt to exploit this mistake to question our loyalty to Atatürk and to mislead the public in a negative way in order to gain political advantage… Long live Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Long live the Republic of Turkey… How happy is the one who says I am a Turk…"
