DENIZ GÖKTAŞ'S INDICTMENT IS READY
The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into comedian Deniz Göktaş, who was arrested due to the words he uttered during his stand-up show in Harbiye, has been completed.
CHARGES AND REQUESTED SENTENCE
The prosecutor's office requested that Deniz Göktaş be sentenced to a total of 2 years and 8 months to 12 years and 2 months in prison for the crimes of "publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility or humiliation," "publicly insulting the President," and "praising a crime and the criminal."
REPORTS FROM 13 PEOPLE IN THE FILE
In the indictment, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was included as the complainant. Additionally, the file included a total of 13 reporters: 11 individuals, 1 from the Spiritual, Principled, Merit-Based Religious Affairs and Foundation Employees Union, and 1 via CIMER (Presidency's Communication Center) reports.
It was learned that the indictment was sent to the Istanbul 14th Criminal Court of First Instance and is still under review by the court.
