Two individuals who attacked a person they were arguing with in Marmaray in front of their children have been arrested, and an interesting claim has emerged regarding the shocking incident. Journalist Fuat Kozluklu, who claims to have witnessed the event, stated, "The issue is not just what is seen in the footage. The young woman cried for 5-6 minutes, and the passengers warned the father multiple times, but he did not stop." He went on to describe the events before and after the incident.
Yesterday at around 16:45, a dispute arose between Deniz E. and a female passenger regarding a seating issue while traveling with her two children on the Marmaray Süreyyapaşa Station. During the argument, E.D. (50), who was on the train, assaulted Deniz E. The scuffle escalated with the intervention of I.A., who joined the fight later.
MAN'S NOSE BROKEN IN MARMARAY FIGHT
As the train approached the station, the parties involved continued the argument here. The frightened children were calmed down by the female passengers at the station. Those moments were recorded by a passenger's mobile phone camera. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. Deniz E., who was punched during the fight, was taken to the hospital, where it was determined that he had a broken nose.
ARRESTED
Following Deniz E.'s complaint, I.A. was apprehended at the scene, while E.D. was later caught as a result of the investigations. Of the two suspects taken into custody, I.A. was released by judicial authorities after processing. E.D., on the other hand, was referred to the courthouse for the crime of 'intentional injury.' E.D. was arrested by the court he was brought before.
CLAIM OF "DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IS SEEN" REGARDING THE INCIDENT
Journalist Fuat Kozluklu, who witnessed the fight on the Marmaray, made an interesting claim. Describing the events before and after, Kozluklu stated that what happened was not limited to the footage. Kozluklu said: "As a matter of conscience, I would like to share my firsthand witness account of the incident that turned into a fistfight while I was traveling on the Marmaray yesterday afternoon. I did not think the issue would escalate to this extent.
"THE ISSUE IS NOT JUST WHAT IS SEEN IN THE FOOTAGE"
The issue is not just what is seen in the footage; I started recording video with a journalist's reflex at the stage of the fight. It is necessary to explain what happened before. A gentleman who boarded the Marmaray carriage with his two children, I believe from Erenköy or Bostancı, confronted a young lady who was standing by the door and talking on the phone, saying, "Why are you standing here? I am trying to get in with my children; they are struggling. What if they tripped and fell?"
"THERE WAS NO CROWD THAT MADE PASSAGE DIFFICULT"
The young girl responded with "excuse me" and apologized. However, it was possible to enter the carriage comfortably from the middle of the boarding door. I think the security cameras inside the carriage recorded this. Since I travel by public transport frequently, I see it very often; unfortunately, there are always people standing on the right and left of the door. Some do not move to the inner parts of the carriage because they will get off after one or two stops. Some of us do not want to mix with the crowd. Or they are taking pictures or filming outside during the journey. However, at the time this unfortunate incident occurred, there was no crowd that made it difficult for the gentleman with children to pass.
"HE COMPLAINED FOR MINUTES, THE LADY STARTED TO CRY"
After the gentleman with the broken nose boarded the carriage and the doors closed, he continued to complain. This situation lasted for minutes. I think it was about 5-6 minutes... The lady standing by the door also started to cry. Passengers who saw this warned the man, saying, "Enough already, be quiet, drop the subject."
Unfortunately, the man holding his children's hands did not stop and continued to complain. The two individuals who became complainants in the incident approached the crying young girl and said things like, "Enough already, why are you making such a big deal out of it?" I also opened my phone's camera and started recording.
"THREW A PUNCH AND GOT OFF THE TRAIN"
The arrested individual told the father with children to "get out" as the Marmaray approached the station and threw a punch before getting off the train. The Marmaray moved. The other young man approached the man with the broken nose while complaining and pushed him. The parties got off at the Süreyya Plajı station. Blood was pouring from the man's nose. Everyone was in shock. Marmaray's private security personnel rushed over. The man with the broken nose shouted that he was complaining about the young man in the blue shirt who verbally and physically intervened.
Then he ran after the young man who was talking to his girlfriend and threw a punch at him. After that, the Marmaray moved. This is all I witnessed. My hope is that this unpleasant incident, in which both sides lost their tempers and made mistakes, will be resolved without escalating to different dimensions. Since I travel by public transport every day, I must say that we have issues with anger management."
