Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that an operation named "Hücret-13" was conducted against an organized crime group involved in arms smuggling, led by K.K., in Mardin. In the operation, 11 suspects were arrested, and a large quantity of ammunition was seized.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on his official social media account that an operation named "Cell-13" was carried out against the organized crime group engaged in arms smuggling, led by K.K. in Mardin. Minister Yerlikaya shared the details of the operation in his post.

Yerlikaya stated, "In coordination with the Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the General Command of Gendarmerie KOM Department; as a result of the efforts carried out by the Mardin Provincial Gendarmerie Command, an operation was conducted, and investigations have been initiated by our Prosecutor's Offices against the suspects who are members of the organized crime group for the crimes of Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing Crimes and Arms and Ammunition Smuggling."

A LARGE QUANTITY OF AMMUNITION WAS SEIZED

According to the information provided by Minister Yerlikaya; in the operation, 30 unlicensed handguns, 21 AK-47 assault rifles, 3 G-3 rifles, 2 M-16 rifles, 19 shotguns, 1 Dragunov sniper rifle, and 1 PKM machine gun were seized.

11 OUT OF 19 SUSPECTS WERE ARRESTED

As a result of the operation, 19 suspects were caught, and investigations were initiated against them for establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes and arms and ammunition smuggling; 11 of them were arrested. A judicial control order was issued for 3 suspects, while the procedures for the others are ongoing.
