Angelik Calvin, the daughter of Yeşilçam's unforgettable actress Ahu Tuğba, was seen in Istanbul for the first time after her mother's passing. Responding to the press's questions at the event she attended, Calvin said, "Even if nothing is left from my mother, her pink nightgown and slippers are enough for me. As for the inheritance, there is enough from my mother for five people. I cannot give an exact figure, it would be a sin."
Ahu Tuğba, one of the beloved names of Turkish cinema, passed away on September 1, 2024, at her home in Miami, USA, at the age of 69. The artist's body was later brought to Istanbul for her final journey. Anjelik Calvin, who spent a period away from the spotlight after her mother's death, spoke for the first time at a gathering in Istanbul months later.
“I CAN’T EVEN BE MY MOTHER’S SNOT”
Emotional after reporters said, “You are the copy of your mother,” Calvin expressed her admiration for her mother with the words, “I don’t resemble her. I can’t even be my mother’s snot.”
Stating that her mother’s place will never be filled, Calvin said she still deeply feels her longing for Ahu Tuğba.
“I EVEN KEPT THE BLOODY PILLOW WHERE MY MOTHER DIED”
Anjelik Calvin also described for the first time the psychological breakdown she experienced in the house where her mother passed away. Calvin, who said she stayed in hotels throughout the process, recounted that period with these words:
“I went through a major psychological trauma at the house in America. I stayed in a hotel during the process; my father spent over 20-30 thousand dollars just on hotel expenses. During that time, my house was infested with mice. I thought, 'Has the house been cursed?' but it turned out the whole building was infested. My mother's bed, where she died, was right across from me. Already in shock, I had kept everything, including the bloody pillow where my mother died. It was a huge trauma.”
“ENOUGH INHERITANCE LEFT FOR 5 PEOPLE”
Calvin, who said some of her mother’s personal belongings were stolen, also expressed her disappointment. Regarding questions about inheritance, she gave the following answer:
“Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep my mother’s memories; they were all stolen in the chaos at the house. Even if nothing is left of my mother, her pink nightgown and slippers are enough for me. As for inheritance; an inheritance enough for 5 people was left from my mother. I can’t give an exact amount, it’s a sin. But I saw my mother’s dead body; money and riches truly have no value. I wish my mother were alive even if we had nothing. Let everyone know the value of their mother.”
