In the Döşemealtı district of Antalya, a detention order has been issued for 22 suspects, including former Mayor Turgay Genç, on charges of irregularities and fraud. The investigation revealed a public loss exceeding 125 million lira.
A large-scale operation was carried out as part of the investigation initiated regarding the 'Bituminous hot asphalt and sidewalk' tender held by the Döşemealtı Municipality in Antalya. Under the coordination of the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the investigation conducted by the Provincial Police Department's Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch resulted in detention orders for 22 individuals, including former Döşemealtı Mayor Turgay Genç.
PUBLIC DAMAGE EXCEEDING 125 MILLION TL IDENTIFIED
As part of the investigation, an examination was initiated based on allegations of 'incomplete productions, duplicate payment arrangements for the same production, and the use of fake scale receipts' in the asphalt and sidewalk tender conducted by the Döşemealtı Municipality. The findings revealed that a total public damage of approximately 125 million 392 thousand 116 lira was incurred, with 66 million 569 thousand 626 lira for the first tender and 55 million 841 thousand 50 lira for the second tender as of the payment date of the first tender.
DETENTION ORDER FOR 22 INDIVIDUALS
A detention order was issued for a total of 22 individuals, including former Mayor Turgay Genç, who is considered responsible for the public damage, along with 2 deputy mayors, 8 municipal staff, 6 contractor employees, and 5 municipal council members identified as acting in concert with him.
ONE IN PRISON, TWO ABROAD
This morning, a simultaneous operation was launched to capture the suspects. It was learned that one of the suspects is in prison, while two are abroad. It was reported that detention procedures are ongoing as part of the operation and that the investigation is continuing in multiple directions.
