After the food scandal at Köfteci Yusuf, which has been a hot topic in Turkey, another scandal news came from another döner company. The incident occurred last August at the İncek branch of a famous döner chain in Ankara. When the baton döner, which was ordered and sold by the döner shop from a well-known döner company that has been in the market for over 25 years, was cut, napkins, bones, and foreign substances were found inside. CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST EMPLOYEEWhile the 20-kilogram döner threatening public health was destroyed, the döner shop reported the situation to the company from which it purchased the döner. The company that imports döner to the world filed a criminal complaint against the employee. "FOREIGN OBJECT PLACED BY EMPLOYEE"According to a report by Sabah; after the foreign substance found in a regular customer's döner, the company conducted an investigation and determined that the döner produced by employee Yasin K. at the production facility in Istanbul Sultanbeyli was defective, based on the barcode and batch number. In the criminal complaint submitted to the prosecutor's office, the company noted that the only stage where a foreign substance could be placed in the döner was the stage where the döner was pressed and put into the freezer, and stated that it could be tracked through a program which employee produced which baton döner. Therefore, they indicated that the production responsible for the döner and the only suspect who could have placed the foreign object was Yasin K. "WE SUFFERED MATERIAL AND MORAL DAMAGE"The company stated that causing the döner to become unusable constitutes the crime of "damaging property." They noted that Yasin K. committed the crime intentionally. They expressed that they gained their prestige and reputation from the quality of the goods they produced and brought to the market, but due to the employee's actions, the döner was destroyed, resulting in material and moral damage. SUSPECTED EMPLOYEE DENIED THE ALLEGATIONSUpon the company's complaint, the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took the statement of Yasin K. The suspected employee claimed that although the barcode belonged to him, it was also used by others and denied the accusation. The prosecutor's office made its decision. In the investigation, it was determined that the döner was prepared by Yasin K., who worked at the workplace, based on the examined barcodes. UP TO 3 YEARS IN PRISON SOUGHTIt was noted that the suspected employee did not accept the accusation but could not provide information on who used the barcode, and it was concluded that he made such a defense to escape the crime. In the case where the company is the complainant, up to 3 years in prison was requested for the employee for the crime of "damaging property."
