Ayşe Selvi, a clerk working at the Kulu Courthouse, was arrested on charges of embezzling 6.5 million lira. Selvi confessed that she spent the money playing on a cryptocurrency exchange and engaging in online gambling.
While the echoes of the 150 million TL fraud in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul continue, a similar embezzlement case has emerged this time in the Kulu district of Konya. It has been determined that Ayşe Selvi, a court clerk working at the Kulu Courthouse, withdrew money from enforcement files and escrow accounts deposited on behalf of the treasury at different times. Investigations revealed an embezzlement of approximately 6.5 million TL.
"I LOST IT IN CRYPTO AND ONLINE GAMBLING" CONFESSION
Ayşe Selvi, a mother of one, went to the prosecutor's office last Wednesday and confessed to her crime. Selvi stated that she lost all the money she embezzled by trading on cryptocurrency exchanges and playing online gambling.
ARRESTED AND SENT TO PRISON
Following her confession, Selvi was taken into custody and was arrested by the court, being sent to prison. Judicial and administrative investigations regarding the incident are ongoing.
