In the İBB case, while a release decision was made for 18 people, the first name to be released was Özgür Karabat's driver, Sırrı Küçük. In his first statement, Küçük said, "One eye is crying from joy, the other from sadness; half of our heart is still inside."
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) court decided to release a total of 18 detainees with an interim ruling made at midnight. The first person released from prison after the decision was Sırrı Küçük, the driver of Özgür Karabat.
CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik and IMM Deputy Chairman Nuri Aslan welcomed the released Küçük. The first person to be released, Küçük, was greeted with enthusiasm at the Silivri Solidarity Center.

Küçük became the first person to be released from prison, while CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik, IMM Deputy Chairman Nuri Aslan, and CHP's 28th term Istanbul Deputy Ali Gökçek also welcomed Küçük in front of the prison.
"HALF OF OUR HEART IS STILL THERE"
After his release from prison, Sırrı Küçük stated, “Neither a step forward nor a step back… We explained the process from the moment the police knocked on our door at 6:00 AM until we got here. Two tears in my two eyes; if my right eye is crying from happiness, my left eye is crying from sadness because half of our heart is still there. However, I see this as the beginning of our struggle. I hope that justice will be served for them as soon as possible,” he said.
