The Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, made a statement regarding the removal of the one-week breaks that are held twice during the academic year. Minister Tekin said on the matter, "We have not made a decision yet; this issue is on our agenda."
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin made important statements to TRT News regarding the end of the first term. Thanking the teachers, Minister Tekin also clarified whether the one-week breaks that are held twice during the education period will be removed.
Here is Minister Tekin's statement on the matter;
"As for the issue you mentioned, regarding the question you asked, we are making an effort to carry out every step we take from 2023 onwards in consultation with our teacher colleagues, our student friends, parents, and our stakeholders in the public.
"WE ARE CONDUCTING OUR ANALYSES"
Behind all the decisions we make, there is a very comprehensive field research and consultation process. Regarding the mid-term breaks, there are those among our stakeholders I mentioned who are against it, and there are supporters as well. We are also conducting our analyses on this matter. As I said, we have monitoring and evaluation departments in our education and training directorates at the ministry. They are making evaluations on this issue.
"THIS IS A VERY MALICIOUS APPROACH"
Some malicious individuals evaluate what we say by taking the last part of the sentence. They perceive it as if we are only consulting with the public. This is a very malicious approach.
"WE HAVE NOT MADE A DECISION YET"
We are already talking with all stakeholders in education, our teacher colleagues, our student friends, discussing the pros and cons of this in pedagogical and academic terms, but we are also consulting with other stakeholders. We have not made a decision yet; this issue is on our agenda.
The world is developing very rapidly. The processes of education and teaching, its methodology, and pedagogy are constantly renewing themselves. Whatever is being discussed in the world, we also have to discuss the same things."
