A jeweler in Kartal, Istanbul was robbed by armed thieves around 04:50 in the morning. The thieves stole approximately 1 million lira worth of gold while the local residents tried to prevent the robbery. The moments of the robbery were captured on security cameras.

The incident took place in Cevizli neighborhood of Kartal district in Istanbul, last day around 04:50. According to the allegations, armed thieves took advantage of the jewelry store being closed at midnight and broke into the store by breaking the shutters and door locks with a crowbar.

THIEVES STOLE 1 MILLION LIRA WORTH OF GOLD

The thieves stole approximately 1 million lira worth of gold by breaking the counter and showcase glasses. Some residents living in the apartment next to the store threw whatever they found at the thieves. Upon the alarm going off and some residents shouting, the armed thieves fired shots at the surrounding people and panickedly fled the scene. The surrounding residents informed the police teams. The police teams who arrived at the scene initiated an investigation into the armed robbery. The moments of the robbery were captured second by second on the jewelry store's security camera.

The individuals who came to commit the robbery tried to stop them by throwing onions.

ATTEMPTED TO STOP BY THROWING ONIONS FROM THE BALCONY

During the robbery, a citizen who was on the balcony and saw that the store was being robbed tried to prevent the robbery by throwing onions from the balcony. The armed thieves, who noticed that the citizens noticed them, fired a few shots at the woman who threw onions at them and fled the scene. In addition, one of the randomly fired bullets hit the window of a citizen's house who was getting ready to feed the animals in the morning.

They shoot at those who shout and scream. They shoot at those who say there is a thief by honking taxi horns. One person enters from the front, and the other person enters from the back and loots. When the thieves make noise and break the glass, it makes a loud noise, and when the alarm starts ringing loudly, everyone goes out to see what's happening and sees the thieves, and those who shout that there is a thief, thanks to the neighbors, throw whatever they have, some throw pots, some throw jars, some shout that there is a thief. They shoot back at whatever they did. They have done robberies before. I haven't done an inventory count, but there is a loss of over 1 million" he said.

Emine Ocak Demet, one of the witnesses of the incident, said, "We woke up to a noise. They were robbing the jewelry store. When the shopkeepers shouted, I also took onions and threw 2 onions. I saw that they were trying to rob the jewelry store with a crowbar, trying to lift the shutter. I shouted from here, the police are coming, they are robbing the jewelry store.
