The program of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's government in Armenia, covering the period 2026-2031, has been announced. Based on the concept of a 'Real Armenia,' the program aims to institutionalize the peace established with Azerbaijan and to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey. Yerevan will also work to operationalize at least 2 modern border crossing points with Ankara.

The 2026-2031 program of Nikol Pashinyan's government, which emerged victorious from the elections in Armenia in June and is based on the "Real Armenia" concept, has been announced.

SIGNAL OF "NORMALIZATION" WITH ANKARA AND BAKU

Among the expected significant foreign policy outcomes in the program were items such as consolidating and further institutionalizing the peace established with Azerbaijan, establishing diplomatic relations with Turkey, and normalizing relations with regional countries.

The program stated that the goal is to remove the country's transportation and connectivity barriers based on the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative and the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).

In the foreign policy section of the program, a message was given that Armenia will continue its "balanced and balancing foreign policy" line.

The program noted that further development of relations with Georgia, Iran, Turkey, and Azerbaijan is of fundamental importance, and included items such as institutionalizing the peace established with Baku, the border demarcation process, signing the peace agreement text initialed between the two countries, developing bilateral trade, and provisions regarding borders.

THEY HAVE MOVED FOR "2 NEW BORDER GATES" WITH TURKEY

The program included advancing the normalization process with Turkey, stating that efforts will be carried out to establish diplomatic relations, open the border, and operationalize "at least 2 modern border crossing points," and that developments are targeted in areas such as transportation, energy, and digital infrastructure.

The program reported that efforts will be made to encourage bilateral and multilateral trade with Ankara, and it was emphasized that deepening strategic relations with Iran, maintaining political dialogue, and expanding commercial-economic relations are among the priorities of Yerevan-Tehran relations.

IT HAD RECEIVED 49.74 PERCENT OF THE VOTES

The Civil Contract Party, led by Pashinyan, had secured the majority in parliament and the right to form the government for another term by receiving 49.74 percent of the votes in the June elections.
