Artificial intelligence technologies have paved the way for making quick and accurate decisions in certain sectors.

12.11.2024 12:20

Cihan Sarı, Founding Member of the Artificial Intelligence and Technology Association and Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Committee, stated that artificial intelligence and machine learning are penetrating every sector. He emphasized that millions of people are afraid of losing their jobs due to artificial intelligence and highlighted that professions will transform.

Co-founder of the Artificial Intelligence and Technology Association and Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Committee, Cihan Sarı, stated that artificial intelligence and machine learning have penetrated every sector, saying, "Especially with the development and popularization of artificial neural networks, the success of these models in pattern recognition has opened the way for us to make faster and more accurate decisions in some sectors."

"ETHICAL VALUES MUST BE CONSIDERED"

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are affecting almost all sectors. Artificial intelligence, which plays a significant role in the early diagnosis of diseases and the development of personalized treatment methods in the healthcare field, is transforming user experience in the finance sector with trading strategies and credit scoring systems. Additionally, it offers significant advantages to businesses in the retail and manufacturing sectors through applications such as market analysis and demand forecasting.

As artificial intelligence rapidly spreads across all sectors, experts warn that ethical values must be considered in the process of integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning.

"ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE CONTRIBUTES TO PERSONALIZED TREATMENT METHODS"

Co-founder of the Artificial Intelligence and Technology Association and Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Committee, Cihan Sarı, stated that there is almost no sector left untouched by artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Sarı said, "Especially with the development and popularization of artificial neural networks, the success of these models in pattern recognition has opened the way for us to make faster and more accurate decisions in some sectors. Similarly, in the finance sector, which is closely related to big data, trading strategies and credit scoring systems are widely used by almost every institution. Likewise, in the retail and manufacturing sectors, as reading the market and efficiency are of vital importance, models that draw their strength from the unshakeable foundations of mathematics and statistics are becoming increasingly popular every day."

DOCTORS' NEW ASSISTANTS ARE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Pointing out that artificial intelligence-supported systems play an important role in the early diagnosis of diseases, treatment planning, and managing their own treatments for patients, Sarı stated that artificial intelligence has contributed to the ecosystem through many initiatives in this field.

Sarı said, "Especially image processing techniques can assist and support doctors in the fields of radiology and pathology. Artificial intelligence algorithms that analyze data such as patients' genetic makeup, lifestyle, and medical history contribute to the development of personalized treatment methods."

MARKETING HAS GAINED A NEW DIMENSION

Sharing information that algorithms process large datasets to predict market trends and strive to provide better returns to investors, Sarı stated: "Artificial intelligence algorithms are used to assess credit risk and develop credit scoring systems. This opens the way for a faster and more objective evaluation in the assessment of credit applications and the calculation of risk. In addition, artificial intelligence is intensively used in banking and finance in terms of remote customer acquisition, personalized predictions and recommendations, segmentation and target audience identification, digital assistants, and fraud management with auditing and supervision. In the retail sector, artificial intelligence analyzes customer data to determine shopping trends and make demand forecasts. In manufacturing processes, artificial intelligence and machine learning are used to increase efficiency, improve quality control, and reduce costs. Algorithms that analyze sensor data can detect problems on production lines and make proactive maintenance plans."

"ALGORITHMS CAN EASILY HANDLE THE JOB"

Cihan Sarı stated that the issue of efficiency is one of the areas where machine learning algorithms excel, noting that customer satisfaction is also dependent on this, and as efficiency increases, the quality of service is also likely to improve.

Sarı suggested that the best example of this could be given from the manufacturing sector, continuing his words: "Efficiency in production is dependent on countless variables, and it is impossible for all of these variables to be perfectly considered manually by humans. But algorithms can easily handle the job. Think of a random forest algorithm. You can run it with dozens of independent variables, and it can tell you which variables have the highest predictive power, and it can do this over any time interval you want. The replacement of subjective decisions made by humans with objective decisions made by artificial intelligence leads to increased efficiency, enabling the customer to gain maximum benefit, and this continues to grow. This becomes one of the factors positively affecting customer satisfaction."

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS SIGNING FIRSTS

Sarı emphasized the bright future of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies in different sectors, stating that the future of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies is quite promising.

Noting that significant developments have occurred in software, hardware, and application areas, Sarı said, "Every day we are starting to encounter situations that we could not even imagine with the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning. One of the best examples is the first-ever photographs of black holes, which light itself cannot escape from, and thus were considered impossible to photograph. This would not have been possible if machine learning algorithms had not advanced this much. Of course, there will be a limit to the developments in hardware; even if we revolutionize nanotechnology, there will be a limit to the number of transistors we can place on a single chip. But I cannot say the same for software."

Sarı provided information about the challenges faced during the integration of artificial intelligence technologies and the strategies implemented to overcome these challenges, stating that the biggest obstacle in integration is the people themselves.

"IT IS NOT ABOUT THE ELIMINATION OF JOBS, BUT THE TRANSFORMATION"

Explaining that society is excessively attached to traditions in some areas, Sarı continued his speech: "The fear that artificial intelligence and machine learning will completely dominate certain professions and that large masses of people will become unemployed makes it difficult for us to adopt these technologies and integrate them into our lives and work. But I believe there is no need for this fear. Even the audit sector, which is said to be the first to be replicated by these technologies, is still largely dependent on humans. Yes, this change is inevitable, but it will happen much slower than we think. People will focus on programming algorithms that fully automate these tasks rather than manual tasks like reporting and accounting."

It is not the disappearance of professions, but their transformation that is at stake.

Sarı emphasized that artificial intelligence and machine learning should be designed to integrate into both work and human life while respecting ethical values, and concluded his speech by stating: This is a very important issue that should be addressed first by governments and then by developers. While each of us uses an artificial intelligence application that facilitates our private lives, we must be sure of what it is doing with our personal data. In this area, regulations have a significant role to play, and there is a need for continuous detection of unethical artificial intelligence applications and making them deterrent through penalties.
