İsmail Kaşdemir, Head of the Gallipoli Historical Area of the Çanakkale Wars, stated that in the third article of the order written by Atatürk from Düztepe on June 3, 1915, during the land battles in Çanakkale, he demanded that the soldiers on watch in the trenches should not sleep day or night, and said that this order revealed the great sacrifice shown by the Turkish soldiers.

As the 111th anniversary of the Gallipoli Land Battles approaches, an order given by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during the land battles has been shared with the public.

In the third article of the order given by Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, commander of the 19th Division, it was stated that he used the expressions, "Trench sentries (two soldiers during the day in front of each squad, half a squad at night) shall always keep their eyes on the enemy and be very attentive; other soldiers, with weapons in hand, shall await the orders of the squad leader inside the trench and shall never sleep." İsmail Kaşdemir, Head of the Gallipoli Historical Area for the Çanakkale Wars, stated that Atatürk's very clear and definitive order revealed the sacrifice of the Turkish soldier.

"TODAY'S GENERATIONS OWE THEIR COMFORT TO THE MEHMETCIK WHO NEVER BLINKED IN GALLIPOLI"

Drawing attention to the fact that victory in the Gallipoli Wars was not easily won, Kaşdemir said, "In Gallipoli, the Turkish nation made great sacrifices with all its elements. Especially the Turkish soldier put forth a superhuman struggle on the front line and made Gallipoli impassable. One of the motivations for the soldier's upright stance and self-sacrificing struggle is that the commanders at the head actually managed and directed the soldier very well. In this regard, one of Mustafa Kemal's orders reveals that greatness here." he said.

"WE OWE TODAY TO THE MEHMETCIK WHO NEVER BLINKED 111 YEARS AGO"

Emphasizing that Atatürk's order contains a very clear and definitive expression regarding never blinking even for a moment and not falling asleep, Kaşdemir said, "Because if we fall asleep, there is a possibility that future generations will not be able to sleep. Therefore, today's generations, who sleep in comfort and peace, owe this ease and comfort to the Turkish soldier who did not sleep and never blinked in Gallipoli 111 years ago. Therefore, in the Gallipoli Front, in both the naval and land battles, the fact that the Turkish soldier never blinked even for a moment and remained awake and alert brought that great success and victory." he stated.
