The attacker, who had 2 knives in his hand, attacked the gendarmes providing security for the embassy. It was stated that the attacker shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the incident.
It was reported that the security officer who neutralized the attacker by shooting him was slightly injured. Interior Minister Dačić said that the officer's use of a weapon was “self-defense.”
“TERRORIST ATTACK” STATEMENT
Dačić, who described the incident as a “terrorist attack,” stated that the attacker was “a minor whose identity has not yet been determined.” Dačić noted that the attacker was being tracked by Serbian security units and claimed that the suspect shared the black flag of ISIS on his Instagram account and supported the terrorist organization.
Following the attack, the terror threat level in Serbia was raised to the highest level and police presence was increased at critical points.
ISRAEL: OUR PERSONNEL WERE NOT HARMED
