The luxury brand Audi of the German automotive giant Volkswagen Group has suspended vehicle deliveries to the United States due to additional tariffs imposed by Donald Trump.
The automobile manufacturer Volkswagen Group's (VW) luxury car brand Audi has reportedly suspended vehicle deliveries to the United States due to the additional tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
AUDI SUSPENDS VEHICLE DELIVERIES TO THE U.S.
According to a report by Germany's leading automotive magazine Automobilwoche, Audi has sent a letter to its dealers stating that all vehicles entering the U.S. after April 2 will be held for the time being and will not be delivered to dealers. Dealers have been asked to focus on reducing their stock. It was noted that Audi currently has 37,000 vehicles in the U.S. that are not affected by the new tariffs.
AUDI DOES NOT HAVE A FACTORY IN THE U.S.
Audi does not have a factory in the U.S. and the company imports all the vehicles sold in this country from abroad. The best-selling model in the U.S., the Q5, is produced at the Audi factory in Mexico, while the remaining models come from factories in Germany, Hungary, and Slovakia. Reports in the German press indicate that Audi's parent company Volkswagen has temporarily halted vehicle deliveries by train from Mexico and ports. The company expects clarity on pricing by mid-April.
Furthermore, since April 3, an additional 25% customs duty has been applied to car imports in the U.S., in addition to the previous 2.5% rate. Starting in May, 150 categories of car parts will also be subject to additional charges.
