Former Fenerbahçe president and presidential candidate Aziz Yıldırım reacted strongly to Galatasaray management's statements implying "match-fixing" against Fenerbahçe.
AZIZ YILDIRIM'S "MATCH-FIXING" WORDS TOWARDS GALATASARAY
In his written statement, Yıldırım criticized Galatasaray for targeting Fenerbahçe instead of highlighting their own achievements, stating that this reflects the "Fenerbahçe complex" within the club. Aziz Yıldırım emphasized that it has been confirmed by court decisions that Fenerbahçe did not engage in match-fixing.
Here is the full text of Aziz Yıldırım's statement:
"In the statement made by the board of directors and communication units of Galatasaray Sports Club, instead of highlighting their successes and focusing on themselves, targeting Fenerbahçe Sports Club and implying 'match-fixing' towards our club shows us that this community has not yet overcome their Fenerbahçe complex within them.
We strongly condemn these ugly and audacious implications made against Fenerbahçe Sports Club.
We advise those who try to slander Fenerbahçe to first look at their own history. It is evident from court rulings and officially registered publications that our Fenerbahçe has never engaged in match-fixing in its history.
A mentality whose achievements throughout history are overshadowed by lobbies, dark alliances forged behind closed doors, and interests rather than hard work, today daring to utter the word 'match-fixing' is the embodiment of shamelessness in Turkish sports history.
To those who attempt to imply 'match-fixing' against Fenerbahçe, we clearly state: Below are what we have previously said about you and the words for which we were acquitted in courts;
“Fenerbahçe Sports Club president Aziz Yıldırım, in his press conference after the Ziraat Turkey Cup final between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe on 26.05.2016, said: 'Aziz Yıldırım did not fix matches. But Galatasaray fixed matches. In front of everyone's eyes', 'The one who introduced match-fixing to this country is Galatasaray. Did everyone forget the 8-0… The cars…', 'But it is said that in 2000, Fethullah Gülen made Galatasaray champion by praying. I have no such thing', 'Watch the last 5 minutes of their Sturm Graz match. Is there match-fixing or not?', 'But Galatasaray always fixes matches. Let them not provoke me further, they cannot handle it. No one can', 'First, everyone must be decent, must be a man.'
We especially want the public to know this: Starting from the 2026-2027 season, you will no longer face a divided, fragmented community, but the great Fenerbahçe community that knows how to unite as one fist when necessary.

WHAT HAPPENED?
A video shared on social media by Galatasaray on the evening they became league champions had drawn reactions. In the post, there was a message exchange with "Fenerbahçe ŞK", and the final message read "Don't you DARE again!" The yellow-red team later deleted this video.
