The leader of the DEVA Party, Ali Babacan, called for the establishment of a "leaders' table" in addition to his party's commission in the process of a Terror-Free Turkey. DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan spoke about the Terror-Free Turkey process and the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission during a television program he attended. Babacan, who called for the establishment of a "leaders' table" in addition to the commission, said, "What will happen if Mr. Erdoğan invites Mr. Özel? "WE ARE IN A SENSITIVE PERIOD, I AM CONCERNED"
Babacan, who stated that he supports the Terror-Free Turkey process but is concerned about it, said, "We are really in a sensitive period. I am concerned. If the climate deteriorates, this process will not work, it will get stuck. We said we would support this process even if there is a 5% chance. We have entered a process, but I am concerned."
"A 'LEADERS' TABLE' IS NEEDED ON SUCH AN IMPORTANT ISSUE"
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also called for the establishment of a "leaders' table" in the process. Ali Babacan used the following expressions:
"If this is a matter related to the survival of this country, the President of the country should invite the leaders without making any political party distinction. He should invite them and say, 'Friends, look, this is a matter of the country. Let's set aside internal political conflicts. Mothers should no longer weep. Let's work on this issue together, let's carry it out together.' We have such a call to President Erdoğan. A commission has been established in the Parliament, and there are members from every party. There are deputies there. A Turkey table has been set up there, but on such an important issue, a leaders' table is also needed. The President of the country should not think like this: If this works, if we achieve success here, I want to take all the credit for myself. If it doesn't succeed, I can easily shift the blame to the commission or the bureaucrats running this job."
"WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF ERDOĞAN INVITES ÖZEL?"
Babacan said, "What will happen if Mr. Erdoğan invites Mr. Özel? The DEM Party, the MHP, and the İYİ Party can also sit down. If all parties sit around a table like this. Everyone should express their views. Ultimately, the government is the one that will make and implement the final decision, but warming the climate between parties and leaders will pave the way for this process. Otherwise, we are talking about a process that could be subject to an accident at any moment. Everyone should do their part. Such an important opportunity may not come again.
