03.09.2026 14:30

Expectations of consecutive hikes in fuel prices continue. While an increase of 8.24 TL per liter is expected in diesel, an increase of 2.47 TL is also anticipated for gasoline. If the increases are confirmed, the new prices will be reflected on pump signs as of Friday, September 4.

With September, consecutive fuel price hike news continues. Following the massive 8.24 lira increase expected on diesel per liter from midnight tonight, an expectation of a 2.47 lira hike for gasoline prices has also emerged.

WHEN WILL THE GASOLINE HIKE TAKE EFFECT?

According to information from industry sources, calculations based on Tupras's pricing formula project an increase of 3.29 lira per liter for gasoline, including VAT. After distribution and pump pricing adjustments, the net increase reflected to drivers is expected to be 2.47 lira per liter. The relevant price change is projected to be reflected in pump prices as of 00:01 on Friday, September 4, 2026. Final amounts may vary slightly depending on distribution companies and stations.

WHAT WILL GASOLINE PRICES BE AFTER THE HIKE?

If the projected 2.47 lira increase is fully reflected at the pumps, the estimated new gasoline prices per liter in major cities will be as follows:

  • Istanbul Europe 74.35 TRY - 76.82 TRY
  • Istanbul Anatolia 74.21 TRY - 76.68 TRY
  • Ankara 75.33 TRY - 77.80 TRY
  • Izmir 75.62 TRY - 78.09 TRY

A HUGE 8.24 LIRA HIKE EXPECTED FOR DIESEL

The expectation of a price increase for gasoline came right after the historic hike news regarding diesel. As of midnight Friday, September 4, a hike of 8.24 TRY per liter is also expected for diesel. If this increase is fully reflected on price boards, the price of diesel per liter will exceed 90 lira in Ankara and Izmir and 89 lira in Istanbul, setting a new record.

HOW ARE FUEL PRICES DETERMINED?

In Turkey, gasoline and diesel prices are calculated based on the average of refined product prices announced in the Mediterranean market and changes in the dollar exchange rate. The final pump price is determined by adding Special Consumption Tax (SCT), Value Added Tax (VAT), and the profit margins of distribution companies and stations to the resulting refinery price.
